Kits supplied in tough transit case with mains incubator, 30 test slides, log sheets, disposal tablets and colour instructions / comparison chart. Cross infection risks are a serious issues in a multi-sensory or training room environment. Among the potential hazards, body fluid contamination can leave residual bacteria such as coliforms and enterobacteriacae. Whilst a good clearning regime with modern anti-bacterial detergents helps eliminate risks, our Micro Slide helps you to actually recover any remaining bacteria and see the profile in 24 - 48 hours.
The test slide features 2 individual sterile agar plates, the buff side for total bacteria counts and the red side for Coliform and Enterobacteria. Each are gently pressed into contact with the surface to be tested for a couple of seconds, or dipped in the fluid then returned to the outer tube and placed in the mini incubator supplied (2 slides at any time) for 24 - 48 hours.
After Incubation check the results - The buff side will identify total bacteria (TVCs - a good overview of general hygiene) as red dots, obviously the lower the better, perhaps 1 or 2 as a maximum is desirable.
The red side identifies coliforms as bright violet circles and enterobacteria as pale yellow circles. Positive results are a strong indication of contamination from body fluids etc. A desirable result would be no growth on this particular side.
Contaminated test slides can be disposed in clinical waste or soaked in a solution made up from the disposal tablets supplied according to instructions.
By regular testing over a set pattern of locations and logging the results on the sheet provided, you can quickly establish potential risk areas where extra care during clearning is required to stop cross infections at source. Remember, this product can also be used in many other areas including food preparation, sanitation and medical locations. |
